Mobilia: people constantly ask us what the name means. The word mobilia is Italian for furniture, and the name and the translation speak volumes about who we are.
Quite simply, Mobilia is a regional destination for those seeking modern furniture and contemporary European design. Entering our store, one senses that it is somehow different: no overstuffed chairs or sofas on steroids. Instead, one sees clean lines, plush, inviting seating, sophisticated fabrics, and an exciting mix of materials and textures. Complementing the extensive range of furniture are accessories and gifts expressing a contemporary design aesthetic with primitive and ethnic elements thrown in to make things really interesting.
Opened in 2003 by an Asheville architect, Mobilia occupies the ground floor of a landmark building in Asheville, North Carolina’s thriving downtown shopping district. Originally a department store, the impressive entrance features a recessed entryway and expansive windows where we showcase new arrivals and create dramatic product displays.
In mid 2009, Mobilia joined the Four Corners Home group. Four Corners Home, www.fourcornershome.com, is an Asheville-based lifestyle store focusing on organic modern design. Together the two stores offer complementary products, yet maintain their own distinct personality.
Mobilia’s young, energetic staff of trained interior designers provide knowledgeable and creative insight into projects both large and small, and enthusiastically introduce new customers to Mobilia’s high quality product lines.
Customers can choose either to special order or purchase pieces off the floor. However, we show at any one time only representative pieces from the various lines we carry. Through the use of catalogs and photography, though, we are able to present a much wider selection of items which may be ordered.
Explore our website, but better yet, plan a visit to our store and discover what sets us apart and makes us a unique destination for modern and contemporary home furnishings. Prepare to be impressed.
